Author Spotlight: Tara Sivec

Welcome to the first author spotlight! I've read so many new fantastic books that I'm getting a little lost in just which are my favourite books for each genre, so, I've decided to introduce the author spotlight. A post dedicated to sharing some of my new favourite authors with you and my favourite books from them.

I was briefly introduced to Ms. Sivec's novels at the end of last year, picking up the first in her Naughty Princess series, At The Stroke Of Midnight. I'll confess to having never read a romance novel before that included the heroine stripping as her job (not that it matters), it's just a uniquely distinct plot point and feature.

I didn't return back to her novels until I ran into her Hometown Series, reading (as one does), back to front and read the last book first, the first book second, and the second book third. So, a bit out of order, but, I fell in love with her writing style and her characters, and will definitely be looking for more books from her.

One of the things that I absolutely love about her writing is that each character is relatable, and the books are honestly laugh out loud funny. I'm not talking a huh, a chortle, a wheeze, I'm talking full blown laughter. It's been awhile since I've had that from a romance novel, and her books are just utterly enjoyable.

She does have quite a large repertoire already built, and a new series (Summersweet Island) and novel (Kiss My Putt), which sounds fantastic, coming out this month, with the cover release and blurb just released today!

After spending my entire pro golfing career being known as the quiet, controlled, no-nonsense golfer on the tour, there’s nothing more humiliating than throwing all of that down the drain—or into a water hazard—on national television. Needing some place to hide, to lick my wounds and figure out what I even want to do with my life once this blows over, I can only think of one place I need to be. Summersweet Island, where everyone treats me like one of their own, and they’ll all be happy to have me home again. Well, except maybe one person. It’s been two years since I last set foot on Summersweet Island or spoke to anyone there. But I’m sure Birdie Bennett, my best friend since I was 15 and the clubhouse manager of my favorite golf course, has had plenty of time to forgive me for that tiny little misunderstanding where I blocked her on social media and blocked her in my phone. Oh, and I guess I kind of, sort of accused her of being a stalker. It’s fine! Once my sexy, spunky, former best friend gets over the shock of seeing me again and stops trying to drive a 9-iron into my skull, I can finally let her know I’ve also kind of, sort of always been in love with her... While I do enjoy a great deal of her books, I will say that my favourite has to be Otterly Scorched, click on the picture to be taken to Amazon. It’s been a lot of years and another lifetime since Dax Trevino was a playboy detective for the Franklin Police Department. He’s been through hell and back, and now he just wants to be left alone, so he can cuddle his otters. When two of his babies are kidnapped in the middle of the night, and Claws and Effect Pet Detectives are called to the rescue, quiet, broody Dax never expects to be tackled and handcuffed by the only woman he ever regretted being a douchebag to all those years ago. Harley Blake has spent her entire life taking care of her accident-prone father with a fondness for dead animals, and her forty-year-old brother who refuses to grow up. The last thing she needs is another complication in her life, and Detective Douchebag is at the top of the list. Dax might not be a cop anymore, and he might have outgrown his one-and-done player status, but that doesn’t mean she’s going to get burned a second time and fall for his charms. The infuriating man already branded a mark on her heart years ago, making sure she’d never forget him. Besides, she has a case to solve for the guy, and this is just business. But the sarcasm starts flying, there are a gaggle of adorable otters who need to be cuddled, a Bandit Von Trash Panda who just wants to play poker, pot brownies, and squirrels dressed for a wedding... at a funeral. Things are heating up—and not just from the small tree fire after the grenade went off—and this man is suddenly simplifying her life instead of making it worse. Harley knows she won’t escape this time without being Otterly Scorched.

While I do enjoy a great deal of her books, I will say that my favourite has to be Otterly Scorched. First of all, let's discuss that cover. It's GORGEOUS. And adding in otters AND puns? This one had to be a winner, and thankfully it was!
